Lumos + Nox = Nerdy Love

As birthday presents to each other one of my friends and I finally got our Harry Potter tattoos! She is the one who first made me read the series and has since dressed up for each midnight book/movie release with me :)

I got "lumos" and she got "nox". This means a few things to us. First (and most obviously), it displays our love of HP. We felt it best represented the balance of light and dark in the books. That and she's evil, I appear to be nicer in comparison :)



I got mine in a modified Quijote Sauvage font in black on my right foot.

My friend got hers in dark blue on her left side.



Both were done by Alex at New Age Tattoos in Springfield, IL.

I also have birds on my back inspired by Jonathon Livingston Seagull, "river" on my foot in reference to my favorite Siddhartha quote, an ampersand and a semi-colon.

Beautiful! Great symbolism. I'm working on a Harry Potter tattoo myself, and your font is beautiful--did the artist do it freehand?

I'm planning on getting "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" from Sorcerer's (Philospher's) Stone on my ribcage.

I LOVE that quote! I considered getting it, but I don't want anything that long. At least not at this point :)

I think both are pretty and well done! Very crisp and clean. I like the font on yours, but on first glance, I thought it said "bumps". A second look very clearly told me I was ridiculous :0)

Hahaha yeah I can see that now that you mention it. I think (hope) it looks more like "lumos" in person specially now that the swelling has gone down :)

That is badass!! :) I love Harry Potter. Just the thought gives me this warm, comforting feeling...I cried like a baby when I finished the last one because I knew it was over.

I live in Springfield, IL home of all the Lincoln stuff and the Knight's Action Water Park.

Nice....I love the font as well. I have lightening bolt behind my ear. Myself and three friends got the same tat together. It's great to have that fellowship of ink.

i love these! i just got a HP tattoo myself. i was thinking about getting "lumos" and "nox" on each arm, but i went with "expecto patronum" on my foot instead.

i dunno if you'd want to but i'm super proud of my new tattoo and showing it off and i'd totally volunteer to be featured! that'd be so cool. here's my post if you want to take a look.
