got my first tattoo today on my right shoulder blade. It's a quote from The Velveteen Rabbit
. If you're curious about the meaning, just ask. :)
Done by JP Burns @ Shipwreck Tattoo,
Corpus Christi, Texas.
LOVE the font.. and I just found a copy of the velveteen rabbit at a local thrift store today. How coincidental! Did you ever watch the cartoon movie when you were younger?
i really didn't even know there was a cartoon movie. now i must find myself a copy!
i loved that cartoon movie. it was a daily event in most of my childhood.
Same! I'm shocked that you loved the book so much and never saw the movie. It's brilliant.
very nice script. is that someone's handwriting or is it from somewhere?
I took in the idea with the font "jane austen" and then the artist simplified it and made it more what i had in mind.
i'm curious about the meaning. :)
I have Depersonalization Disorder, which makes ordinary situations feel surreal and dream-like. I've had it for most of my life and it's pretty twisted sometimes. Reading the Velveteen Rabbit made me identify with the Rabbit and his desire to be Real. Through love the Rabbit can become Real, just like through the loved ones in my life I feel more alive.
that's a beautiful meaning, and a beautiful tattoo :] i love it.
thank you so very much.
that's absolutely beautiful
Oh my. That is so beautiful. I absolutely love the tattoo and meaning behind it.
aw i'm glad someone asked, because the explanation makes the tattoo even better.
the velveteen rabbit seriously fucked me up as a kid. i had nightmares about it, it was so sad to me. and i never understood the "skin horse" (i'm guessing leather now that i can think about it).
uhk that book broke my heart every time.
anyway, i like your tattoo.
dude, i thought i was the only one that had this reaction the velveteen rabbit.
nope. i literally had nightmares over it. i went a long time without ever reading it because it made me feel so sad (though as a little kid i didnt really realize thats how i was feeling).
this is gorgeous! it's amazing how much emotion those three little words dredge up. and the font... stunning.
I wanna see like you right in front of me! I'm glad you finally got the tat..I know how long you have been waiting
I can't fully express how much I love this. Beautiful visually -- absolutely perfect font and the meaning behind it is beautiful too. The Velveteen Rabbit was my favorite book when I was little and that statement still makes me cry.
I love Shipwreck! My boyfriend just got a piece by Kris Roberts.
Outta curiosity--how much did JP charge you for the lettering?
I absolutely love that shop. JP charged $50 because it only took like 20-30 minutes.
i know i'm like a week late but i just wanted to agree with everyone here and say that i love it. it's amazingly perfect!
